Michelle Pitts

"A true leader has the confidence to stand alone. The courage to make tough decisions and the compassion to listen to others. She does not set out to be a true leader but becomes one by the quality of her actions and the integrity of her intent. In the end you'll find that leaders are like eagles. They don't flock. You find them one at a time."

Michelle Pitts, president and owner of "The New Pitts Mortuary," is without a doubt a true leader. Her human interaction skills are remarkable and her ability to lead with ease and effectiveness remains unquestioned. She is one of few black female owners operating a funeral home here in the state. Michelle took ownership of what was then Pitts Funeral Home back in 1996 and has taken her business to a whole new level. She serves the Milwaukee area and its surrounding community.

Michelle remains active in the community by donating annually to a number of local and national charities including the Salvation Army. She's a faithful member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and has received a number of awards for her work in church and throughout Milwaukee. Michelle has been honored with a CYD Image award, Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors New Black Caucus award and several other distinguished community service awards. She was named "Woman of the Year" by a local radio station.

Michelle is also the co-host of "The New Pitts Mortuary" hour on WNOV 860am radio show. She pays tribute to the families she served during the gospel hour that airs every Sunday afternoon. She has experienced a significant increase in business and credits God for her success. She, along with her staff, truly believe their duty when it comes to service is more than just a job. It's a ministry!

Michelle's motto in life can be best described in an African Proverb; "Care more than others think is wise. Risk more than others think is safe. Expect more than others think is practical. And dream more than others think is possible."
